Tanya Terry, MS
Editor
I was born in Dallas, TX, but I grew up in Ashdown, AR, where my mother single-handedly raised me and my brother. I grew up in the country, where there was only one channel on television, so I spent most of my time reading and singing. My love of reading and singing paid off and earned me many academic and music awards in high school, where I served as student body president and received a full ride scholarship to Henderson State University for voice. Since my family was poor and couldn't afford college, I decided to take the scholarship, but after attending Henderson my freshman year and flunking piano, I decided that music wasn't really for me, so I pursued an education in my first love, Reading.
I learned to read when I was three years old, and when I started school, I was so far ahead of my kindergarten class that my teacher decided to give me my own group of students to teach. It was at that moment that I knew I wanted to be a reading teacher. I attended Texarkana College for an associate's degree, then transferred to Texas A & M, Texarkana to finish my Bachelor's of Science in English Language Arts/Secondary Education in 2006 and a Master of Science in English Language Arts and Curriculum and Instruction in 2011. Since college graduation, I have spent my time teaching at Texas High School in Texarkana, TX, and I am now branching out into the editing world, enjoying my time as a junior editor with College Boy Publishing. |
